HNRE was founded in 1958, as one of the 242 transformed scientific research institutes of China State Council. HNRE is one of the first two institutions engaged in rare earth smelting, separation, application research and development in China. HNRE is also a decorated unit successfully developed by China's "two bombs and one satellite" project (missiles, nuclear bombs, and the artificial satellite) and a national technological innovation demonstration enterprise. HNRE was devolved to Hunan Province in 2000, and transformed from a public institution to a science and technology enterprise on July 1, 2004. In 2021, HNRE completed the company system reform and now HNRE belongs to Hunan Hi-Tech Investment Group.

 

Our Achievements

 

Since its establishment, HNRE has obtained more than 400 scientific research achievements, more than 300 scientific and technological achievements awards at provincial and ministerial level or above, 82 national authorized invention patents, leading or participated in the formulation and promulgation of 70 national/industry standards. HNRE has undertaken a number of national, provincial and ministerial projects such as the national 863 Program, high-tech engineering projects, industrial strong base projects, and military supporting scientific research.
